GREAT LIST ya Batir
mashallah, very nice.
I studied my undergrad in the US, and thus I've missed out on a lot of the arab intellectual debates that usually take place in the university.

It'll be great if you can review 1 book by each of these people and post it on your website.

by the way - th description you've added on each of the top 20 makes this post MUCH MORE INTERESTING AND USEFUL than the arabic top 100

very nice idea to sort down such a list.

I would like to add to muhammad arrabi's comment about adding a book for each author that the book should be "the best/or one of the best" from point of view.

A small synopsis for each book would also be as valuable.

Thank you all for the ideas. I will certainly work on that and publish the list of top books within days.

how about Wadah Khanfar, the current Director General of AlJazeera. He has made a substantial impact in media though leadership in the Arab World. Time Magazine has him as one of the 50 most influential people in the world in 2004

Thank you for this effort. The list certainly needs to be expanded, there are more and better names that should be included. i would like to see the arabic list first.
