Asalam 3alaykom,
EZAYAK YA LAITH..
Let me tell you this..
1- you really made me laugh,i enjoy bitterness very much ,especially that comes with reason and logic..so you sound like you're pissed off from certain b-logs*..hahah

2- Is my blog on your stay list??:P

3- The best thing about blogging is how much freedom it grants you..you get to chose it's image, content and almost anything else..so..i guess if someone wants to make it theraputic,it's o.k..and people who won't like it can always stop reading..simple!!

4- the tips you gave to the bitchy blogs are quite reasonable though...it makes a lot of sense.

5- what makes this post three times interesting is that it comes from you..YOU!!
The co-founder of jeeran..the host..

6- ARE you bitching your problem to the world with this post??!!

Finally..i've always liked your writings,i would like to read them more frequent though:)
thank you:)

thecaller,

Thanks. Your comment is the best I've had on my blog yet.

I do agree, the Internet -not just blogging- offers a great deal of freedom, but like everything else, blogging is being abused in many occasions by not being put to good use.

I certainly encourage everyone to post whatever is on their mind, however, it is my advice that they make the most out of it and try to add something to the blogosphere by having more genuine substance in their writings.

This post would be pointless bitching if it did not include resonable advice, which -based on your testimony- it does. And I think you will find that the issue I'm bringing up is a global one, and not merely restricted to Arab bloggers.

I think the fact that this advice is coming from me -the host- makes it even more reasonable, because I certainly don't want people to stop blogging, but rather to blog better.

p.s. I like your blog. You have a poetic style when discussing your ideas, which makes it very far from useless bitching.

Laith,
you probably know that the greatness of blogging is the fact that it has no restrictions and no guidlines.

you spent time "preaching", advising and limiting people about what they can and can't do on their blog, neglecting the above fact.

The reader is the one who will determine that the post he/she has just read is worthy.
For some people the fact that they have an outlet to express how much it affected their life that they ran out of kit-kat, or to express how much they despise the opposite sex is a great breathing space, that no one can control.

Now,Whether you personally can relate to it or not to, is pretty much irrelevant. Whether someone reads it or not is also irrelevant.

The bottom line is it's a free space, whether it is dedicated to bitching, to making the world a better place (highly unlikely by the way), or to posting pornographic material.

For example i think, it is not cool that you think you are an innovator because you copied an idea and started a website. I have no business telling you not to do it, or not to shamelessly brag about it on your blog. What you think is a "better" blogging attempt, i see as self glossing, unjustified bragging, and lame.
So I just dont read your posts.
You should do the same.

Disagree,

I agree, it is up to the reader to decide, but I am not addressing the reader here.

You are clearly taking this very personally, or else you would not make such shameful personal attacks. However, it is a free space and no should stop you from doing so, but then just the same, no one can stop everyone from thinking how pathetic you sound.

Is it because you run a B-log? Is that why you don't want to show your true identity? Let everyone see it and decide for themselves.

Thank you for your comment and please refrain from making personal attacks, because it just makes your comment silly and insecure.

Laith, here is my analysis of this post of yours. I would like to comapre it to the Idea of Atheism. People who call themselves Atheists contradict themselves because while they say they do not believe in an organized religion, belief, etc. they are still believeing in the belief not to believe in anything.

Now, you might be asking what does this have to do with your post. Well Laith, your post is exactly what you do not like about B-Blogs. You are indeed, excuse my language, Bitching about B-Blogs.

Thus, I found this post exremely funny, because contradictions make me laugh. Thanks for making me laugh Laith :P

Linda,

Actually I do agree, almost every critical piece of writing can be seen as pointless bitching. To differentiate, it is always helpful to assess the relevance of the matter being addressed to the writer's expertise, and whether or not they are in a position to give advice to other on that matter. Other important traits of B-logs are: self-centrism, complaining, hate, and attention seeking -which you will find predominate their content. Exempt from this rule are political posts because we as a nation are expert politicians : )

Jeeran has some great blogs by ordinary people who express their feelings -whether love, misery, happiness, sadness, oppression- through poetry. True, they are complaining in a way, they are telling us how they feel, not expecting to find the solution to their problems through their blog. And true, they are using their blog as a form of therapy, but their writings are far from meaningless. I have been am amazed at how artistically composed some of them are, how sophisticated their choice of words is, and how enjoyable reading them can be.

This post is merely advice. It may sound harsh, yes, bit it’s the truth that's in the back of everyone's mind when they start blogging or come across a B-log.

Thank you for your post.

Linda,

If you read laith's post slowly, and not only taking those statements that might apply to you as a personal attacks, then you might realize that by his definition of B-loggers, he is not contradicting him self.

Laith said "I like posts that take one topic and dissect it –given that it is related to their expertise, and not just because they felt like it- even if they do not provide an answer."

He makes it clear that the problem is not just complaining, but the lack of solutions or suggestions accompanying those complaints that defines it as bitching. This is common sense, every human who has a bitchy friend knows that. And frankly, bitchy people are cute in the beginning, but soon enough patience runs out and suddenly these people becomes a hassle and you don’t wanna be around them anymore.

Laith here complained to us, but he also gave us some suggestions and solutions, and they do sound reasonable to me. I don’t understand how you missed that.

I wish that people can think about what they post to see if it will benefit others, because these useless blogs are cluttering the search engines, and is wasting my time when searching.

Plus, why should silly people find more silly blogs with silly ideas to convince them that their silly ideas are normal?

It only makes sense that those insecure about them selves and knowing that their blogs are full of bitching might disagree with his post, as any normal person will agree that bitching is a waste of air and space.

Disagree, until you actually invent something new, then you can complain about people taking ideas from others.

I agree though that people have the freedom to not read, but it means going through more material to find something good, that wastes time.

Soon enough, the word "Blog" is going be discredited and no Blog will be taken seriously anymor

It's really interesting how people re-act towards eachother and heat up a steamy argument over an entery, and the entery itself was written to avoid such arguments or B*Blogs.

I enjoyed it (Laith's blog) and felt it was very honest.. most of the blogs i bump into are really boring and full of silly break ups and personal issues, i know sometimes it's helpful to read about other people's experiences but when the writer is being so secretive and not totally honest with the reader then the aim of writing such blogs won't be accomplished.
It also made me laugh cause there's a person in my head i'd really love to forward this blog to, to help him stress out a bit and go easy while writing his personal issues.

This might sound weird but I'm the type that likes to write about my personal issues but as a i got older and felt it's not proper to always mention people's names and draw circles around their faces in my photographs and X them out of my life, I started heading towards photography and soothing myself with art..expressing my emotions and true feelings towards life and people around me through colors instead of words.

I hope my comment wasn't too B* :)
