DEMOCRACY is a wonderful thing ... as long as the results put the right people in power.
And so when Iranian leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was swept back into power a great many people across the world began to question the result.
He's certainly popular with millions of voters across Iran but despised by the corporate Western media. Despite my efforts, I could not find one single mainstream newspaper which covered the Iranian elections in an objective way.
Exactly the same thing happened when the Palestinians swept Hamas to power - in its arrogance the Western media decided if it wasn't 'best for the west' then it can’t be good for anyone else.
The journalists are often mere accomplices or tools for darker forces. And so if a democratic election produces the ‘wrong’ result the CIA, among other mischief makers, go into overdrive to create unrest.
And if this is the case, they’ve done a good job - hundreds of thousands of people are demonstrating in Tehran as I write.
Sounds fanciful? Well former US President Bill Clinton "formally apologized on behalf of the United States” for what he termed “American crimes against Iran.”
Clinton relayed the story at the World Economic Forum in Davos in the March of 2005 admitting that in the 1950s the United States deployed the CIA to depose Mossadegh, who was an elected parliamentary democrat. Once he was out of the way the US brought back the Shah, a more compliant, agreeable leader who would do what he was told. (His equally compliant, but deluded, son is briefing those in Washington at the moment).
And just to make sure the brutal Shah remained on the Peacock Throne, the CIA helped train the secret police to teach them effective ways of supressing the people through murder and torture.
The trouble is today’s mainstream media is not prepare d to delve far enough in history and it seems there are those suffering from political amnesia, unwilling to check or remind their interviewees of that dreadful period when thousands upon thousands of innocent Iranians were slaughtered under the Shah’s regime.
To some journalists, it seems inconceivable the so-called hardline President had been re-elected. But perhaps that’s because most of the Iranians the Western journalists interview are privileged, english-speaking intellectuals who despise Ahmadinejad’s brash, combative style of leadership. Financially, they have not fared well under his leadership either so there's a lot of self-interest at stake as well.
At this point I should declare my own personal interest which stems from the fact that I present a political current affairs show called The Agenda for the Iranian-broadcaster Press TV which is owned by state-run television IRIB..
My other interest stems from the fact I’m quite a fan of Mahmoud Admadinejad who is adored by the common man and woman in Iran. Anyone who vows to narrow the gap between rich and poor can't be all that bad ... unless you're one of the rich!
I have been to iran twice now, and as a visitor anywhere, if you want to find out what is really happening on the ground don’t speak to the intellectuals or the politicians ... get a translator and grab a taxi.
Taxi drivers are a great source of information and they will give a more accurate view representing the man in the street - this is the man who can’t speak english and is therefore largely over-looked by lazy western journalists.
So was the Iranian election a fraud? I can't say either way with any authority but neither can those coming from western democracies. We, of all people, have no right to throw stones at Iran’s elections.
It is now well documented that the presidential elections which swept George W Bush to power the first time around were rigged, and there was a question mark over his second term. Sadly the complaint western media failed to expose this and indeed Fox News announced Bush was the newly-elected president without proof.
I’m told that more20people in America voted for Pop Idol and America’s Got Talent TV shows than vote in the US presidential elections. True or not, they attracted vote rigging allegations as well.
I have stood as a candidate in elections in Britain before, and if everyone who pledged me a vote did exactly that when it came to putting a cross on the ballot paper I would be sitting in the House of Commons by now. the fact is that voters do weird things when left to their own devices in a polling station, away from the glare of political pressure groups.
In 1992 the media polls told Labour Leader Neil Kinnock he was going to win the 1992 General Election from the Tories - he didn’t. Ever since that shock result politicians have lost confidence in voters ... they simply can’t be trusted to do the ‘right’ thing. They’re unpredictable which is why the Conservatives are taking nothing for granted this time around.
On a point of interest the '92 election was very close. Neil Kinnock lost by 1400 out of 25 milion votes - it came to represent 21 seats, a bitter pill for anyone.
Proving election fraud in the face of an electronic system is difficult, but in Iran they used thumb prints and paper ballots in the astonishing 85 per cent turnout.
The country’s Supreme Leader has now ordered an investigation into voter fraud, it should be easy enough to check. If a handful of men have spent the last few months stamping their thumbprints on millions of hoax papers, it should emerge quite soon.
But the sad reality is the Mirhossein Mousavi losers will not accept they’ve lost and the winners will never relinquish their victory.
At the end of the day will it make a great deal of difference? The reality is Ahmadinejad as president is not the most powerful person in Iran. He is not the commander in chief of the army or the security forces. He doesn't even have the power to go to war.
Those powers are reserved for the supreme leader of Iran Ayatollah Khomeini and if Iranian people want more say in the running of their country perhaps it is to him they should go for reform inst ead of listening to siren calls from the self-serving West.

Iran Decides

Today, the people of Iran will go to the polls and decide who their President will be for the next 4 years.

While there are four contestants vying for the Presidential seat, lets focus on the famous 2.

There is the current President, Ahmedinejad and the former Prime Minister, Mousavi.
Ahmedinejad sure made his mark in the international arena. While he did became the arch- enemy of the Zionist-sympathetic West, he made alot of fans among the ordinary citizens of the Muslim world, and other anti-West/Zionist nations.
As an observer from abroad, i can only say what i see and hear. I dont trust CNN or BBC...but i do trust al-Jazeera, and te words of Iranians in Iran.
I called a friend in iran a few days back. He is in Esfahan...according to him, 70% of the citizens have gone to Mousavi. Apparently, while Ahmedinehjad's good with in rising the spirits of the zealous Muslim youths across the globe, he hasnt scored well in his own country. Realistic employment is low, economy's at its abyss, and oil prices have tripled during his Presidency.

Well, I dont know much beyond that, but what I do know is what i expect of the President that will be elected.
1) Continue supporting and public show of unshakable support for the Palestianians.
2) Continue supporting Hezbollah.
3) Never to bow to either temptations or threats by the Zionists and her allies.
4) Continue the nuclear program.
5) Continue the ideals of the Islamic Revolution.

Provided the above, I will be happy with whosoever is elected president.

Spies, Lies, and Mr. Lebanon's Demise

"There are agents, like Mahmoud Rafea, who confessed to have delivered bags with explosives. Other collaborators have confessed to have carried out field reconnaissance missions. Others have facilitated the entrance and exit of Israelis after accomplishing their missions. This is what is meant by executive agents. The door must be opened wide ... this Israeli path should be scrutinized so as to reach a place where we would find information about many crimes, particularly 2005 onwards."

Israel suffered two defeats in Lebanon, and both were by Hezbollah. The first occurred in May 2000 when Israeli troops were expelled (or withdrew, depending on which side of the border you are on) from southern Lebanon after a 22-year occupation. The second was the premeditated yet disastrous 34-day war waged in the summer of 2006. It may have succeeded in ravaging Lebanon but it certainly did not vanquish Hezbollah. They fought the mighty Israel Defense Forces to a draw, and in the minds of many this itself constituted victory.

Israel has neither forgiven nor forgotten these losses. For them, the war against Lebanon and Hezbollah did not end in 2000 or in 2006 but continues today, albeit in different form. And events of the past several weeks revealed exactly what Israel has been up to.

Spies

There have always been Lebanese nationals acting as spies for Israel, but this should come as no surprise. They fought on their behalf for two decades after all, as members of the now-defunct South Lebanon Army during the occupation of the south.

Although initially receiving little attention, a crackdown on these spy networks began late last year. Rapid advances in breaking them have evidently occurred, as dozens of suspects have been taken into custody since April.

“If the Lebanese authorities say they have caught Israeli spies, there's a high likelihood that it's true,” said Shlomo Brom, former chief of strategic planning for the Israeli military.

The Lebanese government is currently holding 30 suspects and has already charged 21 with spying for Israel in an ever-widening investigation. Those detained include an army colonel, a retired general, a deputy mayor, a truck driver and a mobile phone salesman, which two managed to escape across the border into Israel before being caught. Confiscated high-tech equipment and electronics used to transmit information to the Mossad were put on display by Lebanese Internal Security afterward.

Because intelligence provided by certain agents may have led to increased destruction in the 2006 war (which killed 1,200 Lebanese, the vast majority civilians), Nasrallah demanded the death penalty be levied against those found to be complicit. As he declared in his speech on “Resistance and Liberation Day”:

“I ask on your behalf and on behalf of the families of the martyrs and the wounded, on behalf of those whose homes were demolished and those who paid taxes to rebuild their infrastructure, I demand that the collaborators who provided the enemy with the data that had caused all of this, be sentenced to death.”

Lies

In the midst of unraveling and dismantling these espionage rings operating in Lebanon, a report penned by Erich Follath surfaced in the sensationalist, pro-Israel German weekly Der Spiegel implicating Hezbollah in the 2005 assassination of Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri. The allegation was immediately dismissed by Hezbollah who claimed it was simply an attempt to sully its image prior to the upcoming June parliamentary elections as well as sow discord between Sunnis and Shias.

But does it have any merit?

Not a single piece of credible evidence was presented to substantiate Follath’s claim. No sources were named, no documents were produced and the Special Tribunal for Lebanon charged with investigating the Hariri assassination denied ever coming to those conclusions (yet alone discussing them with Follath).

“We don't know where the Der Spiegel magazine did get their information from and we don't know where they brought this story from. No one in the prosecutor's office has spoken to the German magazine about anything,” said the spokeswoman for the Tribunal.

According to Nasrallah, “The Israelis and the Americans wondered how to scuttle the election and influence its outcome. Der Spiegel was their answer.”

The case against Hezbollah is not only flimsy, but one likely fabricated by the author’s anonymous “sources.” It was discounted or simply ignored in Lebanon, even by Hezbollah’s opponents; Saad Hariri refused comment and Walid Jumblatt cautioned it may “derail justice.”

Readers are referred to the trenchant reporting of Dr. Franklin Lamb who clearly exposed the gaping holes in, and unanswered questions of, Follath’s article.

'Mr. Lebanon'

It is important to appreciate that the killing of “Mr. Lebanon” in February 2005 shook the country and ultimately led to the creation of the opposing March 8 and March 14 Alliances. It sharply divided Lebanese along sectarian lines and led to mutual recriminations and prolonged political paralysis.

The confluence of the aforementioned events – discovering the extent of Israeli spy networks in Lebanon, followed by publication of the Der Spiegel article two weeks prior to crucial elections accusing Hezbollah of ordering the hit on Hariri – is no coincidence.

So how do they relate to one another?

Nasrallah stated it candidly:

“The Israelis are acting preemptively before it is discovered that their spy networks were involved in assassinations in Lebanon.”

Could it be that information fed from Israel to a friendly German periodical was done not just to foment Sunni-Shia tension prior to the June election or divert attention away from an imploding espionage ring, but to obfuscate Israel’s role in Hariri’s murder (which may be disclosed by their captured spies)?

Unlike his son Saad today, Rafiq Hariri had good personal relations with Nasrallah and Hezbollah generally – facts Follath conveniently overlooked – making their participation in his murder especially unlikely.

But, division and destabilization in Lebanon works to Israel’s advantage, and instigating political disorder and civil turmoil has always been its modus operandi. Indeed, the fallout from Hariri’s assassination nearly sparked another civil war.

Should Israel be implicated in his death however, all of Lebanon’s political parties and confessional groups would unite against them in an instant.

The cases of four pro-Syrian generals thought to be involved in the crime and held for four years without charge were recently dismissed by the Special Tribunal due to lack of evidence and recanted witness testimony. When it becomes clear the case against Hezbollah is likewise without merit and Israeli espionage rings operating in Lebanon are fully exposed, the Special Tribunal should waste no time in investigating Israel for its possible involvement in the assassination of Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri.

Deconstructing Israel's 'Right to Exist'

If acknowledging Israel’s ‘right to exist’ means accepting that anyone who is Jewish can automatically become a citizen of Israel and then live on the very land, and in some cases, in the very home, of a Palestinian family who has lived there for generations; if it means relinquishing the right to say “this was my land and my home before you took it away from me”; if it means forsaking the right to return to Palestine with deed and keys in hand, demanding to know what entitles the newly arrived family from England, Russia, Morocco or Ethiopia to live on the property of those who were forcibly expelled; if it means denying the very existence of Palestine and Palestinians—as Golda Meir tried to do—by erasing their history, culture, and collective memory … Then no. Israel has no ‘right to exist’.

Gaza is abuzz with activity.

Humanitarian groups and relief agencies are trying to squeeze through Israeli and Egyptian bottleneck to deliver their much-needed supplies; fighter jets bomb tunnels and kill ‘militants’ as Ehud Olmert maintains he is abiding by the ceasefire; international human rights lawyers are busy recording eyewitness testimony and gathering evidence for future war crimes tribunals; Palestinian civilians are returning to their destroyed homes to sift through the rubble and mourn their dead; and intense negotiations underway in Cairo hope to broker an extended truce between Israel and Hamas.

But even if all of Gaza’s outstanding issues were miraculously resolved to Tel Aviv’s satisfaction, Israel will still find pretext to continue agitating against Hamas and the people of Gaza.

Why?

Because they have yet to recognize Israel’s ‘right to exist’.

Acceptance of this abstract, esoteric construct has been a longstanding and immutable demand of both the United States and Israel before substantive talks with Hamas, or any other self-described resistance group, can take place.

I submit however, that nearly all Palestinians have de facto accepted Israel’s ‘existence’.

Indeed, they will contend:

• Have we not recognized Israel’s ‘existence’ when we know it was they who prevented food, medicine, fuel, electricity and clean water from reaching Gaza for 18 months, causing a humanitarian crisis? Then afterward, bombed and invaded a defenseless population, killing over 1,300 and wounding thousands more - the vast majority of whom were civilians?

• Have we not recognized Israel’s ‘existence’ when we know it was they who fired white phosphorus at our people, causing burns so severe they penetrate through skin and muscle to the bone?

• Have the Samounis of the Zeitoun district of Gaza City not recognized Israel’s ‘existence’ when 110 members of their extended family were herded by Israeli soldiers into a warehouse without any food, water or heat for 24 hours, then the building they were placed in shelled the next day, massacring 30? When ambulances were prevented for four days from reaching those inside because the soldiers, a mere 100 yards away, had erected earthen barriers to deliberately obstruct them? What about the four infant children found huddled and starving next to the bodies of their dead mothers, or the injured, who had to be removed by donkey carts because ambulances were still not allowed to approach? Did they not all bear witness to Israel’s ‘existence’?

• Has Khaled Abed Raboo not acknowledged Israel’s ‘existence’ when he stood outside what remained of his home in Jabaliya and a tank with Israeli soldiers ordered him, his mother, his wife and their three children to evacuate? And when they did so waving white flags, all three of his children shot? Had Mr. Abed Raboo not recognized Israel ‘existence’ when he saw Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers, only 15 meters away, shoot dead two of his daughters, age two and seven, and critically injure the third? Does witnessing one’s defenseless children being gunned down at close range, before one’s very eyes, not meet the standard of having accepted that Israel ‘exists’?

• Have the residents of Khuza’a not recognized Israel ‘existence’ when their village came under a 12-hour assault by Israeli forces, killing 14 people? Was the bulldozing of homes with civilians inside, the killing of those carrying white flags, the firing on an ambulance attempting to evacuate the wounded, and the shelling of homes with white phosphorus not enough to say yes, we acknowledge you ‘exist’?

• What about the refugees taking shelter in the Al-Fakhoura school in Jabaliya? When the school was shelled by the IDF and 43 displaced Gazans killed? Have their surviving relatives not adequately recognized the cause of their untold grief is Israel’s ‘existence’?

• Has Israel’s ‘existence’ not been confirmed by the A'aiedy family, whose home was hit by an IDF shell, wounding two 80-year old women and three of their grandchildren? Who waited 86 hours to be rescued because the army did not permit ambulances to evacuate them to hospital, and anyone who attempted to leave the courtyard in order to get water shot at?

• Has Israel’s ‘existence’ not been recognized by those in the West Bank forced to travel on different roads than Israeli citizens? And negotiate a maze of checkpoints where they undergo humiliating searches and delays, just so they can travel a few miles? Are the women who have been forced to give birth at checkpoints, and often miscarry at them, oblivious to Israel’s ‘existence’? Or how about those who have been cut off from their farms and livelihood by Israel’s ‘security fence’?

• In fact, isn’t the hardship and suffering endured by all Palestinians who have lived, or are living, under Israeli occupation enough proof that Israel ‘exists’?

Lal Masjeed Scrutinized

I hope everyone still remember the massacre of Lal Masjeed, Islamabad that occurred back in mid-2007. Despite the huge human casualty, the real story behind it remains a mystery. Events are blurred between the 'official politically correct' version and the politically incorrect version, which is based on the accounts of witnesses at the scene.
Heck, even the death tally is disputed between the two versions. Officials put the death toll at just over 100, where as witnesses said around 2000 died, most of them women and children.

The official story, which the international press community decided to agree with, painted a very grim picture over the whole ordeal. Lal masjeed was supposedly a training camp for terrorists and propagated extremist ideologies.
The other version, however, is very different from what the government claimed. It was nothing about terrorism. In fact, it was a internal political drama.

My article based on an account of an acquaintance that has recently been to Islamabad and have a thorough study of the events at Lal Masjeed.

Lal Masjeed (lit. Red Mosque) is actually a mosque cum seminary (madrasah) that catered both male and female students. Of course, the female quaters and male quaters are separated. The seminary has been existing for decades.

The government accused, a few weeks prior to the massacre, the masjeed was built without approval from the local authority. Even though the accusation is true, anyone with a good knowledge of South Asia will know that these things are normal. Hardly will you be able to find a mosque or other places of worship built with proper documentations. Aside from the buildings built under government projects, all other such buildings were built by common understand. If the government was to demolish all the mosques built without proper documents, I dare say more then half of the mosques in Pakistan will have to be destroyed.

The events unfolds due to a massage parlour cum brothel that was getting popular located not far from the mosque. It was run by a woman called Aunty Shemeem.

The Maulana (Principal) of the seminary decided that it was time to tackle the brothel issue, as it was big vice activity happening so near to the mosque. An indignity to the mosque.

(Officials claim Aunty Shemeem was kidnapped by the female students of the Madrassa, they never mentioned anything that lead to the 'kidnap'). The Maulana sent a few letters to Aunty Shemeem asking her to move the brothal to a different place far away from the mosque. The letter also aforementioned that the madrassa has no power to force them to evict but the request was as a respect to the place of worship.
After being repeatedly ignored by Aunty Shemeem, a few female students from the Jamia Hafsa decided to confront her. They forcefully dragged her to the seminary, and started reasoning with her. Of course, it can be labeled as 'kidnap'.

Anyway, having talked to her, advise her, lecture her, they let her go after a few hours. Unfortunately, Aunty Shemeem hasn't reached her senses and is far from repenting. She felt that she need to revenge to the Seminary.

Since many of her customers are high ranking officers and politician, she was more then sure that she can have things her way. Before long, the Lal Masjeed was approached by the authorities for being built without proper documentations. After weeks of tensions and negotiations, an agreement was reached with the Masjeed authorities which will spare the masjeed from demolision. Outside the masjeed compound, however, due to the raised tensions, a battalion comprising of soldiers from the minorities (i.e. non-Muslims) had already been deployed.
Unfortunately, at the last minute before the signing of the agreement, the then Prime Minister, Gen. Pervez Musharaf, had a change of mind. The agreement didnt went through.

As the episode enters its climax,a standoff begun between the security forces and the students of the seminary. Initially, the students were given amnesty to leave the seminary. While this was going on, a commander was shot, by a bullet coming from the direction of the seminary compound. Some speculate, it was from one of the Secret Service agents, in attempt to start firing at the Masjeed. Of course, as planned, the fire exchange begun.

Sadly enough, the children and womenfolk are still trapped inside the dorm of the seminary. Weather, trapped or deliberately decided to stay on, what is certain is none of them stepped out alive.

The fighting continued fiercely between the seminary students and the armed force for days. One of accusations hurled at the seminary, to paint is as a terrorist camp, was that they had an considerable supply of arms and ammunition. I agree, this is suspicious. However, if you know the nature of life in Pakistan, you will understand why its important for big traditional Islamic institutions to keep arms in their compound.

Pakistan is no stranger to internal fighting, sectarian violence and constant threat of war with India. Mainly, its the sectarian violence (between Shi'a and Sunni) that prompt such institutions to arm themselves.

Point to be noted though, NOT all students were 'dangerously armed with AK-47', in fact most of the students and the female students were armed with mere sticks!!!

Back to the fight, it went on for few days and few nights. Apparently, the armed force's policy at this given occasion was 'take no prisoner'.

After a week-long standoff, the sound of gun fire silenced. What remains was the appalling stench of the casualty of the battle. The victors hailed their success, whereas the rest of the nation mourns the violation of the sacredness of the Mosque by the Islamic Republic's own armed force. Perhaps, the President was wise by fielding non-Muslim soldiers for that operation, they will follow orders without any conflict of interest.

From the pictures, we can see apparently that non-conventional weapons has been used for this urban warfare. White phosphorus was allegedly used. Its appalling how deadly weapons were used against students with mere puny weapons.

A couple of months after the carnage, Lal masjeed was reopened after much renovations, with a different name and new colour (original light red was replaced with off-white colour).Of course, people would not accept this. One the very first Jumma(friday) prayers after the reopening, a group of people tried to repaint it into its original light-red colour, and is still refered to as Lal-Masjeed.
To reconciliation with the obviously angry residents of that Mahalla (neighbourhood), the governement appointed the nephew of the Late Maulana of the seminary as the Imaam of the Masjeed.

Israel Has Managed to Lose Again

Hamas is now becoming a widely accepted entity by the international community. It is regarded as an elementary ingredient in any possible solution. Israel, on the other hand, is seen for what it is for real, a murderous criminal state involved in genocidal war crimes of the worst order.

Haaretz reported today that IDF Senior officials "believe that Israel should strive to reach an immediate cease-fire with Hamas, and not expand its offensive against the Palestinian Islamist group in Gaza."

This shouldn't take us by great surprise. Though Israel has proved beyond doubt that it is rather capable of conducting large-scale genocide, it also proved that its military forces do not have the answer to Islamic resistance. The Israeli chief military officials admitted as well that "Israel achieved several days ago all that it possibly could in Gaza." The IDF, so it seems, finished its role in Gaza. It turned its neighbourhoods into piles of rubble. Relentlessly, it even murdered the civilian population in broad daylight by means of air raids and attacks from warships. Images of white phosphorus artillery shells bursting over schools and hospitals are now part of our collective memory. Tanks firing into schools loaded with evacuees seeking refuge from the bombing of their buildings is now the image associated with the Hebraic soldier and yet, the Israelis failed to achieve any of their objectives. I must admit that it must take a special talent to be an Israeli general. As much as they are good in committing war crimes, they somehow fail in everything else.

The Israeli politicians initially swore to destroy Hamas, they then lowered their expectations, they promised just to destroy Hamas' rocket launching capabilities, all the while reassuring their excited Israeli voters that this time the Jewish State will fight till the bitter end. Seemingly, their promises fell too short once again.

Hamas is still there; its support within the Palestinian street is stronger than ever. But it is not only the Palestinian street. Hamas' message of defiance is spreading all over the Muslim world and beyond. Last week I was marching in London together with another 100,000 protesters. The support for Hamas was all around. It was on placards, flags, headbands and loudspeakers. Not only is Hamas far from being defeated, its rocket launching capability seems to be unaffected. Day after day Hamas combatants manage to remind Israelis in Ashdod, Ashkelon and Sderot that they actually live on stolen Palestinian land. Give Hamas the necessary time and the ballistic message will be carried to every corner of stolen Palestine.

Israel is desperate for an exit strategy. I learned today that Defence Minister Barak is looking for a week long humanitarian ceasefire. Please do not hold your breath, the notorious mass murderer didn't change his spots all of a sudden. Being a veteran general, Barak realises very well that his soldiers on the ground need a break and they need it now. Being that they are gathered together in a few scattered open areas, they are currently exposed to Hamas' snipers and mortar fire. In the last few days, Israeli forces started to suffer a growing number of causalities. The attempt to step up the battle into Gaza's neighbourhood met with some severe resistance. The Israeli army is stuck once again.

If this is not enough, within a few days Obama is going to reside in the White House and the Israelis are not totally convinced that the new American president will blindly support their murderous strategy. Defence Minister Barak realizes that his window of opportunity might be closing down. He realises that IDF soldiers may have to dig in Gaza city outskirts without achieving any of the war's military objectives. Barak needs a few days of ceasefire to create a new reality on the ground. He obviously prefers to hide behind a humanitarian effort. This is far easier than admitting that once again the IDF was caught unprepared. Olmert aids, however were stupid enough to admit the lie. Apparently one of them slammed Barak earlier on today suggesting that "Hamas sees the scenes and hears the voices, these comments are a shot in the arm for Hamas and its leaders."

As things stand, IDF soldiers are now stranded in Gaza. Don't misinterpret me, they are still capable of spreading death and inflicting carnage, yet they cannot win this war. The IAF ran out of ˜military" targets a week ago and the artillery is probably facing the same situation. As news floods in it becomes evident that once Israeli soldiers leave their armoured vehicles and Merkava tanks they are subject to the mercy of Hamas. I have read today on Ynet that some IDF soldiers reported that they "don't really see the enemy", "we get hit and we do not know by who and how."

As things stand, Hamas is becoming a symbol of heroic persistence. Its combatants on the ground fight almost with bare hands against America's most lethal technology. Similarly, Hamas'political leadership has managed to set itself as the key to any possible resolution of the current conflict. The hope that Hamas would be toppled or discredited proved to be just another Jewish wet dream. Hamas is now becoming a widely accepted entity by the international community. However, there is a new reality that we have to bear in mind. The damage Israel is leaving behind in Gaza is horrific. It has flattened neighbourhoods, it has spread white phosphorus in populated areas. As if this is not enough, the many tons of bunker buster bombs which Israel was using day and night have shaken the foundations of every building in Gaza and the question looms large as to whether Gazan houses that are still standing will be safe to live in. EU officials raised the question today wondering who is going to pay for the reconstruction of these eradicated towns, camps and villages.

In an ideal ethical world, Israel would have let the Gazans go back to their land. But ethics and Israel are very much like parallel lines. They somehow never meet. As much as it is clear that Palestinians will come back to their land, it won't be Israel that that will welcome the inevitable returning Palestinians.

Someone will have to rebuild Gaza, and the only name that comes to mind is the democratically elected Hamas. Such a huge project maintained by Hamas will be the right answer to Israel's criminal war and its murderous objectives.

Salaamaleykum,

Stada Placido declares unity with Gaza (hence Palestinians), and condemns with utmost disgust to Israel's assault on Gaza.
It shames us that a country will act in the same manners as the terrorist organisations do.

When Islamabad was attacked, we condemn the attacks.
When Mumbai was attacked, we condemned the attacks.
And now, when Gaza is attacked heavy-handedly, we condemn it.

Israel, being home to many of the Holocaust victims, must understand that little over 60-years ago, they were just as victimised as the Palestinians. And today, when the comforts of a state is acquired, they have joined the ranks of their forefather's oppressors.

It should be reminded that life is a cycle ever in rotation. May this serve as a warning for you who oppress.

Last, but not least, we offer prayers for those oppressed...

Review of India's Pakistan/Islam-phobia

Before the self-loathing Pakistanis jump on the Indian bandwagon of ‘Pakistan is bud of all evils’, we need to wait to see if the terrorists involved in the (deplorable) Mumbai attacks were, as usual, carrying their Pakistani national identity cards in their pockets, or if they turnout to be Bajrang Dal’s shinning stars, like Anti-Terrorism Squad’s (serving) Indian Army Lt Col Prasad Shrikant Purohit? However, the purpose of this column is not to pin blame, rather to familiarize ourselves with the heavyweights of the Hindu extremist parties, who are training and using thousands of terrorists to systematically use terror as means of coercion.

A Hindu umbrella group, ‘Sangh Parivar’ (SP) is built around an extremist Hindu party, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Its members includes parties like the RSS, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and Bajrang Dal (BD, also known as the Monkey Brigade).

Bal Thackeray, an admirer of Adolf Hitler and Nazism, is the founder of an extremist Hindu party ‘Shiv Sena’ (SS, meaning Army of Shiva). Only his hate for Muslims surpasses his love for Hitler. In 1984, in an interview with the ‘India Today’, he said, "[Muslims] were spreading like a cancer and should be operated on like a cancer. The...country should be saved from the Muslims and the police should support them". According to the Asia Times, Thackeray called on the Hindus to form suicide squads “to take the Muslims head on. Trouble-making Muslims should be wiped out from the country... kick out the [40 million] Bangladeshi Muslims and then the country will be secure". In a deposition before the Srikrishna Commission, Yuvraj Mohite said, Thackeray coordinated much of the January 1993 Mumbai carnage. He claimed, “Balasaheb was sitting and he was getting calls from various places. He would ask what was happening at that particular place… and then he would say, 'Kill them. Send them to Allah'”.

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh is an Indian extremist party that believes in terrorism. Its involvement in Mahatma Gandhi's assassination got it banned in 1948, only to be banned again during the 1975 Emergency, and then in 1992 for demolishing Babri Masjid. It has an estimated 4.5 million active members.

Vishwa Hindu Parishad, an offshoot of the RSS, is another Hindu extremist cum terrorist party. Their stated objective is to protect the ‘Hindu world’ from other religions. It was formed by Swami Chinmayananda and a former RSS member S S Apte. Apte declared, “The world has been divided to Christian, Islam and Communist… It is necessary in this age of conflict to think of and organize the Hindu world to save it from the evils of all the three.” According to the Human Rights Watch (HRW), VHP was deeply involved in the 2002 Gujarat massacre.

‘Bajrang Dal’ is the armed youth wing of the VHP. The group boasts it has 1.3 million active members. They run terrorist training camps, called ‘Shakhas’, where thousands of Hindu men are trained in using weapons and explosives. In January 1999, BD’s men killed a missionary and his two sons for allegedly converting Hindus to Christians. In 2006, while putting a bomb together, two Bajrang Dal activists were killed in a premature explosion. Its terrorists were also involved in the 2003 Parbhani Musjid blasts.

A member of Sangh Parivar, Bharatiya Janata Party has the largest following of the mainstream Indians. In an anti-Muslim and bigoted statement, BJP’s website states, “The vibrancy of Hindu society was noticeable at all times in that despite such barbarism from the Islamic hordes of central Asia and Turkey, Hindus never played with the same rules that Muslims did... The destruction of the structure at Ayodhya was the release of the history that Indians had not fully come to terms with. Thousands of years of anger and shame, so diligently bottled up by these same interests, was released when the first piece of the so-called Babri Masjid was torn down... The future of Bharat is set. Hindutva is here to stay.”

One of BJP's coalition partners was Shiv Sena. It’s widely believed to be a Fascist party. Its ideology is 'Bhumiputra' (Maharashtrians deserve more rights than others). In 1993, Srikrishna commission accused its leader Bal Thackeray of "commanding his loyal Shiv Sainiks to retaliate by organized attacks against Muslims."

Not to be left behind, the Indian entertainment industry and news media are also fanning the Hindu extremism. Bollywood is churning out movies in which villains are either Muslims or Pakistanis. Every time a firecracker goes off in India, without presenting even circumstantial evidence, the media joins the government’s chorus of Muslim bashing or Pakistani involvement. For example, within hours of Samjhota Express blast the Indian media declared the so-called Muslim fundamentalists were behind the blasts.

During the Gujarati riots at least 2000 Muslims were massacred by the Hindu mobs. Witnesses testified before the Nanavati commission, that the BJP leader Maya Kodnani and BD leader Babu Bajrangi were inciting the mobs. According to another HRW report, mobs of thousands dressed in the RSS uniforms and "armed with swords, sophisticated explosives, and gas cylinders" were guided by the voter lists and printouts provided by the local municipal administration to burn down the Muslim-owned properties.

The New York Times reported, the police "watched the events taking place and took no action against the attacks on Muslims and their property." Gujarati government’s complicity in the pogrom was also reported by the US Department of State, “NGOs report that police were implicated directly in nearly all the attacks against Muslims in Gujarat, and in some cases, NGOs contend, police officials encouraged the mob.” The Telegraph reported, the Indian “Intelligence officials admitted, however, that there had been a deliberate delay by federal and state governments in deploying the army to give Hindu militants a free hand [to kill Muslims].” Instead of showing remorse, the Gujarati Chief Minister Narendra Modi (BJP), shamelessly said, “Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.”

Within couple of hours of Samjhota Express bombings, Indian authorities were pointing fingers at Pakistan. Turned out, the gruesome massacre was the handy work of the Hindu extremists, like Col Purohit. There are countless other, serving or retired Indian military officials, like Lt Col ® Jayant Rao Chitale and Lt Gen P N Hoon who also train and form the Hindu Suicide Squads. Surprise, surprise! It turns out, besides Muslims; Hindus too can be quite proficient at suicide bombings.

Sadly, none of the Hindu fascist leaders, nay terrorist masterminds, including Bal Thackeray and Narendra Modi, who planned and led the massacres of the minorities were ever arrested or convicted for the crimes against humanity. Even more sadly, neither the United Nations, nor the Western nations have even dared to call these Hindu fascist parties (BJP, VHP, RSS, HSS, Bajrang Dal, and Shiv Sena) for what they are, terrorist parties.

In contrast, if there is even the slightest chance of a Muslim link to an act of terrorism, the West and the Indians go into overdrive of unsubstantiated allegations against the Muslims in general and Pakistanis in particular. Their media is always ready to give an endless coverage, packed with gory details of the incident, along with venomous commentary of the so-called anti-terrorism experts, who never miss an opportunity to squarely point fingers at the Pakistanis. Conspicuously, their governments too frequently break speed records in placing the Muslim charities on the lists of terrorist organizations. Despite the blood of hundreds of thousands of Muslims, Dalits (untouchables), Siri Lankans and Sikhs on their hands, can anyone name a single Hindu extremist organization marked as a terrorist organization?

So what if, year after year, several thousands of Muslims are shredded to pieces by the Hindu mobs, daisy cutters, or by the Predator attacks? But then again, why blame them when the glorious leaders of the Muslim world dispatch their own subjects to Hotel Guantanamo for the ransom money? At least, it’s not like Mr. Zardari tried to handover his ISI Chief to the Indians for the ransom!

Mumbai Bombing- Hindu terrorism?

Here's a conspiracy teory, based on pictorial fact, which even I noticed...

Strange that none of the media (TV or Print) have picked this up at all. Or have they been deliberately ignoring it?

Notice the orange thread / band on his right hand.

Tying a red thread or cord around the wrist is a Hindu practice and it is unlikely a Muslim, especially one politicized enough to carry out an attack such as this, would observe it. I think this provides more evidence that this was a false flag operation or at least an attack by a non-Muslim group. Additionally, the terrorists inside the Nariman House Building were reported to have stocked up on supplies on Wednesday evening, buying not just food items but liquor, among other things, from a local store [Source]. Again, it is highly unlikely that a Muslim, let alone a ‘Mujahid’, and especially one politicized enough to carry out such an attack, would consume liquor in normal life, let alone hours before his inevitable ‘martyrdom’.

Don’t let them ignore it. Circulate this to as many people as you can as we strongly believe it wouldn’t have been ignored if the terrorists were carrying a copy of the Qur’an, or a taveez.
