A logo is a huge focus area for a Graphic designer, especially a print designer like yours truly. Ive read many many Logo design tips on how to land the spot on logo, keep it simple, remarkable, unique, all those intuitive thoughts. I, however; have another ball game, its not that ive been in the business for ever, its what works for me and creates some kind of creative output. This is what i do. I rarely pick up a pencil and paper unless what i want is a semi raster image, all of the above pictures are strictly vector based- such as all logos must be- so intuitively you should jump to a program like illustrator, and the ( semi-program) coral draw, or freehand, any of those programs should and will get the job done. Next, I Play around with the text, applying different fonts and playing around with the pantone colors, set up initials and try to fit in letters. If , however; the client is setting a corporate brand with a symbol then this is where all the fun begins,
www. logopond.com www.faveup.com are sites amongst many that deliver great inspiration to graphic designers, and staying away as possible from curves, unless they are a exact replica of Fibonacci's curve, I go crazy playing around with anything and everything without little thought, not as helpful with logo design but certainly amazing results can be obtained when doing digital art/ design.
I practice as often as i can, go to www.worth1000.com where you can, under the jackpot menu, enter 100+ $ competitions daily to create corporate identities under real deadlines and the possibility to learn alot from the amazingly high quality and professional level of feedback seen by the other members :D

Little over a year ago, i have been working hard to start some kind of freelance Print Design career along side my university studies, i have to say i am pretty happy with the projects i have been working on, and will be posting a good deal of them as time allows, Graphic design has defiantly been a factor contributing as to why i am away from my blog, but defiantly will do my best to catch up.
This is one of my latest projects, a logo for the Language center at JU, Topography is a must work on in this logo, but over all i am in love with the outcome, and the composition, as always i try to stay to the golden ratio as possible, a factor taken in consideration when building the width and height. As for the curves it has been a bit hard to incorporates the golden spirals but did my best at it.
The color scheme is a favorite of mine, Golden Orange VS Dark Royal blue, and the tints is to play around the edges and give more of a contrast and shadow feeling.
Telll me what u think, i love a harsh critique so please dont hold back :D.

Tala I hope this is more to your liking :D
