Gordon Brown to address Knesset

The British Prime Minister Gordon Brown will address the Israeli parliament. He is the first ever UK Prime Minister to address the Israeli parliament, Knesset. It is expected that in his address he will call the Iranian president’s threat to wipe Israel off the map as abhorrent.

I think that the statement by the Iranian president to wipe Israel off the map of the world is a foolish statement. Iran and for that matter any Muslim country does not have the capacity to wipe Israel off the face of the world. Such statements are made to gain cheap popularity and do not serve any good.

I think that Iran and the Muslim world must realize that the state of Israel is a hard reality for them which they will have to accept. They must try to engage Israel in talks and try to solve all the issues through peaceful negotiations.

Commentary: Iran offers security pact to Gulf States

Iranian President has offered a security agreement to the GGC monarchies. He told these monarchies that we should try to bring peace in the region without the foreign intervention.

The presence of Mr. Ahmedinejad at the Gulf Cooperation Council indicates that these monarchies are weary of the way the US is handling the Middle East situation. Now they want to solve the problem with mutual discussion and agreement.

Commentary: US has no plan to attack Iran

The White house made a statement on Thursday to allay the concerns of the international community. It said that the US had no plan to attack Iran.

In my opinion, the US will never attack Iran. It tried to gather the support of Europeans but they were in no mood to support Americanson this issue.

The EU wants to buy gas from Iran to diminish its dependence on Russian energy.

Americans also saw that their sanction backfired. The price of crude oil jumped to $92 a barrel in New York last week.

The US must understand that the Iranians have oil, which the world wants to buy.

European nations, Russians and Chinese should back US sanctions

I agree with Dr. Rice that a nuclear weapon in the hands of Iranian Mullahs will destabilize the Middle East. Since 1979, they have been exporting terror and inciting their co-religionists in Sunni dominated countries to destabilize these countries.

International community will have to support US sanctions against Iran to force it to stop its nuclear enrichment. But it looks that European nations, Russians and Chinese are not willing to back or complement US sanction because of their lucrative business ties to Iran.

Sarkozy says he will bring Iran to its senses

The tough-talking French president warned Iran to suspend its nuclear program or face ‘Harsher sanction"’. He expressed his views in an interview Rossiskaia Gazeta.

Mr. Sarkozy should try to put his house in order. There are many French companies, which are supplying technological support to Iran . They are fiercely opposed to any initiative to impose tough sanction against Iran.

Iran has managed to delay the impending sanctions. World powers who gather on Friday to discus to impose new sanctions on Iran have decided to wait for the reports by UN nuclear watchdog and a European Union negotiator whether to submit a new sanctions resolution to the Security Council.

Ali Khorram , who is a a former diplomat and expert in international law commented that delay in the sanction is victory for Iran.

In my opinion , big powers will not be to take tough actions against Iran. As long as Russia and China are behind Iran's back.

Israeli President Shimon Peres on Tuesday lambasted Columbia University in New York for hosting Iran's president. He compared the event to attempts to engage Adolf Hitler in dialogue before World War Two.

Instead of lecturing others to correct their behaviors, Israelis should learn to behave themselves. There is no doubt that Ahmadinejad is a "petty and cruel dictator". But Israelis are oppressor, occupier and tyrant too.

They ignored all UN resolutions. They are oppressing Palestinian people. They are denying them their legitimate rights.

World should press Nuclear power to destroy their arsenals

According to reports , Officials of the five permanent U.N. Security Council members held talks to impose further sanctions on Iran. They wanted to force Iran to halt its its uranium enrichment activities.

In my opinion , the stance adopted by these world powers are illegal and unjustified, because NPT gives Iran to pursue to uranium enrichment activities for peaceful activities.

UN members should press these rogue world powers to destroy Nuclear arsenals to make world nuclear free.

We should remember that America is only nuclear power, which used atomic bomb to subdue Japan.

Iran's president lashes out at U.S.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad warned the West that it would respond fiercely, if they made an attack. He said those words during a a military parade in Tehran today where a new missile was shown off in public for the first time. It is said that the missile has a range of 1,100 miles and would be able to threaten Israel and U.S. bases in the Middle East.

This is a very serious development. If the Iranian claims are true. It will start a missile race in the Middle East. Sunni Arabs states will try their best to get missile to defend themselves. This will be a nightmare for the Bush Administration.

French plays down French war threat

French Defence Minister Herve Morin said that France was not planning to attack Iran. He was trying to play the remarks made by Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner.

French tone down their rhetoric after tough remarks from China and Russia. Russia and China warned against the use of force in Iran. They said they would oppose any unilateral against Iran.

Moscow is concerned over reports about a possible military action against Iran, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

are Iranians supplying weapons to the Taliban?

Washington has lodged a complaint with Chinese authorities about the Chinese weapons found in the hands of Taliban fighters in Afghanistan. They assert that weapons sold to Iranian government are being transferred to Taliban. US authorities say they have caught a 10-ton weapons cache in the western Afghan province of Heart.

In my opinion Washington has started the blame game to hide its failure in Afghanistan. U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates told the press that Washington had no evidence to prove that Iranian government is involved in the smuggling of weapons. I fail Washington is maligning Iran on the basis of suspicions.

We know that Shi'ite Iran and the Sunni Taliban had been arch enemies since 1998, when the Taliban regime killed nine Iranian diplomats in Mazar-e Sharif.

Iran is trying to persuade European governments to allow it the opportunity to prove that its nuclear programme is not designed for weapons production.

Last week , Saeid Jalili, deputy foreign minister , visited European capitals to convince them that Iran wants to remove suspicions regarding its nuclear program. He added that that Iran’s Republic’s recent agreement with the UN’s nuclear watchdog is step to indicate Iran’s goodwill.

The real purpose of this visit was to thwart US plan to pass third UN sanction. There are reports that that US is pushing UN to pass another sanctions resolution against Iran.

Larijan : Stoning is based on Islamic Sharia law

Mohammad Javad Larijani, the head of the Iranian judiciary's human rights committee said that judiciary supported stoning..

Last week , a man named Jafar Kiani was stoned to death in a village in the northwestern province of Qazvin. This execution was carried out despite a 2002 directive to suspend the practice. It sparked a sparked international condemnation.

It is interesting to know that the punishment for stoning to death does not exist in the Quran.

Is Iran behind Palestinian crisis ?

Palestinian Intelligence chief Tawfiq al-Tirawi Iran is orchestrated the seizure of Gaza from Palestinian security forces. He made this allegation on on June 24.

He said Iran trained Hamas members and also provided them weapons to to fight the Palestinian Authority. Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit echoed similar allegations last week.

Hamas also has rejected al-Tirawi's allegations as "lies." Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman dismissed the allegations saying saying Tehran neither encouraged nor assisted the takeover of Gaza by Hamas.

Meanwhile, there are concerns among ordinary Iranians that their president, Mahmud Ahmadinejad, has been fueling the Middle East crisis in order to distract attention from domestic economic woes.

Poverty in Iran

Former Iranian prime minister , Mir Hossein Moussavi, said pictures of impoverished minors and statistics showed 20 percent of Tehran children were homeless.

His comments come at a time of increasing concern about Iran's economy, with MPs and economists warning that the policies of Ahmedinejad risk further fueling rising inflation.

The country is also grappling with problems of unemployment for its booming youth population as well as drug addiction and juvenile delinquency.
